Cincinnati is now 1-3 and a long shot to make the playoffs.
The Bengals need something to turn this season around and I’m calling out the mascot, “Who Dey” (right).
I have noticed a common theme in football this season. If you need some motivation, don’t turn to your coach, big mouth receiver or California quarterback. They can only do so much. Turn to your mascot.
However, what has “Who Dey” done for us lately? I remember the days in the not so distant future when Cincinnati didn’t have a mascot at games. “Who Dey” better step it up soon or those mascot-free days of the 90s (used baby Bengal Tigers from the Cincinnati Zoo) will be back.
According to the team’s website, “Who Dey” is listed at 6-foot-5 and weighing 225 pounds. It also says that “Who Dey” attended Bengal University.
What?
They don’t teach you how to fight at Bengal University? Is it an online college or something?
This might seem like a ridiculous post, but I have examples to back up my point.
Take the Oregon Ducks this season. The Ducks were picked by many to finish in the bottom half of the PAC-10. Oregon looked as if it was going to fulfill that prediction in the first week of the season, when Oregon found itself tied 20-20 in the third quarter to the Houston Cougars.
- BUT THEN -
All of sudden, Oregon started to dominate its competition. The Ducks finished off the Cougars 48-27, then beat Michigan 39-7, Fresno State 52-21 and Stanford 55-21 before losing a heartbreaker to No. 6 California. Oregon was ranked No. 11, prior to the loss and now are ranked No. 13 in USA Today Poll. That’s out of 118 teams, compare that to the Bengals’ ranking out of 32 teams (23rd according to ESPN.com).
Granted the Oregon mascot, “Donald Duck”, beat up on Houston’s mascot, “Shasta”, who happens to be a female cougar, but it is that ruthless behavior that we need for a turnaround in Cincinnati.
- Next example -
Did you see the fear in the eyes of the fan trying to dodge the “KC Wolf”?
The Kansas City Chiefs started the season 0-2. The fan ran onto the field in Chiefs’ home opener against Minnesota. If you were wondering, the Chiefs won 13-10. Coincidence? I don’t think so.
The next week, the Chiefs traveled to San Diego to face the Chargers in a game where they were favored to lose by 12 and 1/2 points. Kansas City won that game and did so by 14 (30-16).
- Last Example -
This didn’t happen this year, like the others did, but it is still a classic.
So where you “Who Dey”?
I’m tried of blaming the defense, the coaches and the players.
It is time to blame you, “Who Dey”!
Even the Colts are mocking us with their inappropriate mascots.

I agree, Who-dey is the main reason the Bengals stink…what’s up with his red/white/and blue outfits..has he defected to the Washington Nationals? does he think the Bengals would be better off playing baseball…He’s a tiger…he should starting dressing like one and start kicking some ass!
Woody your comments are classic.
I really hope those jokers on ESPN could read your material. I might have to start giving you guest post any time you ask.
Did you see that Duck?
He makes “Who Dey” look like a pussycat.
it’s official, our mascot is the lamest in the league.
I think Who Dey has been hanging around Chad too much. A smoking jacket? Seriously? Who does he think he is? Hugh Hefner!?
He needs to take some lessons from Tony the Tiger…now he was a real tiger!! GRRRR-eat!
All I can say is that “Who Dey” needs to step it up. I totally agree with the blog. I think that a big reason that we are losing so many games is because of “Who Dey”. Im tired of watching the Bengals play and lose so many games while I sit there watching looking like an idiot. I want to see something come from “Who Dey” for a change. I mean, “Who Dey” weighs 227 pounds and is 6′5” tall and yet nothing has been coming from him. Whats wrong, go get in a fight or something like in the videos in this blog. Come on “Who Dey”, rip em up, I wanna see some bone! Your a tiger for crying out loud, act like one! I want to see our Bengals win a game! Heck, my birthday is this sunday and all I want to do is see the Bengals beat Kansas City! If you wont do something big pretty soon, ill have to come down there, take your job for a day and do it for you! You know, its funny when we say Who Dey cheering for our team because all I ever hear anymore is Who Dey?!? Go give them all an answer “WE DEY”! And what about the video on the Bengals web site “Fear Da Tigers”? Show em why! So what do you say “Who Dey”? Go show everyone that we really can do something!
There was a mascot in the 90s get your facts straight it was me the name was Huddles. The bengal tigers from the zoo was also on the field.
