FREE AGENCY NEWS: DAY ONE

BENGALSTRIPES – According to Bengals.com, safety Chris Crocker has re-signed with the Cincinnati Bengals.

The deal is reportedly for four years and is worth $10 million, $3.5 million of which is guaranteed.

Personally, I believe, this is the best re-signing (notice I wrote “re-signing”) the Bengals could have made all offseason.

More to come on this soon.

ANDREWS SIGNS WITH EAGLES: According to various sources, Stacy Andrews has signed a multi-year deal with the Philadelphia Eagles.

The Eagles seemed to be in need for offensive tackles as it appeared that the team was going to lose both of their longtime starters, Jon Runyan and Tra Thomas, at the position to free agency.

Andrews, who was tagged as the Bengals franchise player last season, struggled at times with his pass protection and eventually was injured, tearing his anterior cruciate and medial collateral ligaments in the fourth quarter of the 15th game of the season (many think and have been reporting today, including Philadelphia newspapers, that he was injured in the last game of the season – However, that is not the case, 6-foot-9 Dennis Roland started and performed well in the Bengals’ season finale against Kansas City.)

Despite the injury, Andrews it has been reported that he has been on the fast track to recovery and is expected to be ready for the start of the 2009 season.

Personally, this move doesn’t upset me, I think Andrews was still a project and at 27 years old (will be 28 this summer), he probably wouldn’t have improved too much.

In Philly, Andrews will play alongside his brother, Shawn who starts at guard.

HOUSHMANDZADEH SEARCH: Housh appeared on ESPN after midnight last night and said that we would like to play for the Seahawks, Vikings, Eagles and Giants.

He also mentioned what he was looking for; funny the three things he mentioned are probably the three biggest weakest spots the Bengals have right now.

“I’m looking at teams I think have good coaches and good offensive lines and good running games.” Houshmandzadeh said. “I have no idea if those teams are interested in me.”

That last part was lie, something that I didn’t expect from Housh, but if he ever saw anything written about him recently he would know that the Seahawks, Giants and Eagles are interested in him.

In a shocking related story Housh visited Seattle and met with team officials today.
