BENGALSTRIPES – The Cincinnati Bengals can’t seem to go a day without making a move this week. Today it was getting rid of players instead of adding them.

The biggest name of the four players that were cut today was safety Dexter Jackson, who was set to earn $2 million this season according to Bengals.com.

The move makes a lot of sense, considering the Bengals re-signed Chris Crocker to a four-year $10 million deal on the first day of free agency.

Crocker figures to be a big part of looks to be Cincinnati’s three-man rotation at safety with 2007 draft picks Marvin White and Chinedum Ndukwe.

To me this move could also mean that the Bengals are still active in free agency. By clearing up $2 million maybe they will try to sign a backup offensive lineman and a fullback. Before this move, I thought the team would be able to afford one or the other.

We shall see.

Others that were released today include guard James Blair, cornerback Marcus Brown and defensive end Victor DeGrate.
