I know no one thought this would happen.
Everyone was under the impression that the Cincinnati Bengals couldn’t afford another bad character guy, but Fresno State DT Jason Shirley was to phyically dominating that the team had to take a risk.
Shirley is one of the biggest DTs in this draft at 6-foot-5 338 pounds and he uses that size to dominate offensive linemen.
In 2007, Shirley was suspended three times.
This pick is obviously a risk, but has the opportunity to have a huge reward.
Overall, since this pick is risky, hopefully the Bengals have another DT they might target with their last four picks (two sixth rounders and two seventh rounders).

The Bengals get a do-over with Shirley and a chance to prove that they can figure out to manage a player off of the field. Shirley gets a chance to make a name for himself in a much needed position. He only has to look at the fired Henry to see how easy it is to throw it all away. I wish Shirley and the Bengals luck on this one!
I guess we want to keep up reputation up on Sports Center, as that is the only press we are getting now-adays. Well, hopefully it was just a phase he went through last year. If we loose him to bad behavior then our defense will be in big trouble.
Thanks for posting this. Very informative….. smart risk reward pick.
