According to everyone and their mom, Madieu Williams has agreed to a six-year deal worth $33 million with the Minnesota Vikings.
Right when the negative Bengal fan in me was starting to come out, Cincinnati made a blockbuster trade with the Detroit Lions.
Look at that fat man run!
The Bengals traded gave up a third-round and a fifth-round pick for the massive two-time Pro Bowl defensive tackle Shaun Rogers.
Screw worrying about if DTs Glenn Dorsey (LSU) or Sedrick Ellis (USC) will be there at No. 9 overall pick because the Bengals won’t be worried.
Turn your attention to trading up the draft for one of the top defensive ends like Virginia’s Chris Long or Ohio State’s Vernon Gholston.
The 340-pound Rogers (right) will clog up the opposing team’s running game like beef clogs up the middle of a hamburger.
Rogers will turn 29 in two weeks and has three years left on his contract (he is due $4.25 million this year, $5.25 million in ‘09 and $7 million in ‘10).
The Bengals also brought back one of my favorites back in Dhani Jones by way of a three-year deal, according to the team’s Web site.
A part of me is sad that Madieu is gone, especially since I have his jersey.
However, I think that a Rogers’ jersey will look phat.

I like this trade but what picks do we have left? I am also sad to see Williams gone but I like the young kids we have from last years draft.
WOOOO!!! That is awesome!
Bengal Stripes you crack me up
The trade doesn’t hurt the Bengals in the draft that much. Cincinnati is expected to receive a third-round pick as compensation for losing Eric Steinbach last year.
I just hope Shaun Rogers doesn’t turn into another Sam Adams. If the Bengal’s get Chris Long that would be great.
Nice web site! Excellent move by the gals….finally. This is the type of move that is generally nothing but hypothetical banter. Rogers is a fat man, but one health of an athletic one (nice video). Madieu is being paid Polamalu/B.Sanders range, which is ridiculous, so good riddence. As far as the draft, could we trade down and p/u S Kenny Phillips? I think a trade down is more likely than a trade up w/our track record, but maybe the Rogers trade is the beginning of a new era. What’s gonna happen to Mr.Consistancy Landon Johnson?
A rumor I heard in Cincinnati was that Landon Johnson was listening to offers from the Steelers
Well it does not look good on this trade anymore. What do you know other than what bengals.com has posted?
If what I have just read is true it makes me really upset. The Browns may have just made a trade to get Shaun Rogers. They have already picked up DL Williams from Green Bay. These 2 in the middle of a 4-3 together would be bad news.
