The 2008 NFL Draft has arrived.
The floor is now open, please comment your thoughts and opinions as the draft unfolds.
If you are someone who hasn’t commented before on Bengalstripes.com, you will have to wait until I moderate your first comment. After that initial comment, you will be able to fire comments on the site uninterrupted.
As the draft approaches and also during the draft I will be watching the site very carefully. I will try to update the site with new posts as the new players arrive.
Hopefully this “man child” will be the team’s first pick.

PLEASE TRADE THAT WR HE IS NOTHIN BUT TROUBLE. IF HE DOES NOT WANT TO PLAY GET SOMEONE THAT WILL
Personally, I disagree with everyone else when they say that Mike Brown is trying to make a statement by not trading that “WR”.
In the history of the Bengals, when has Mike Brown admitted a trade offer (answer is never) - so, I believe that he wanted everyone to know this is what we could get (21st overall/3rd in ‘09) and we want more.
Will he get it? Who knows, but I’m still hopeful that we will be traded. Brian Urlacher is doing the same thing in Chicago, but it isn’t making the same headlines b/c he chooses not to involve the National media.
I would like a straight up deal for Urlacher. It could be to pricey, but I hope the Bengals will do something.
According to NFL Network’s Adam Schefter - Levi Jones has requested a trade http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_main.aspx?sport=NFL&id=2551
anyone who wants to leave… trade ‘em. this is getting ridiculous. maybe by the end of the draft, we will be left with only carson and tj. has an nfl team ever forfeit a season?????
who’s up next?
Saints traded up to steal Ellis from the Bengals -
This stings a little - now Jacksonville is trading up from No. 22 to No. 8
Here we go!
Cincinnati is on the clock.
Looks like LB Keith Rivers?
Keith Rivers has potential to be another AJ Hawk…plus this is a hard working team player kind of kid without any trouble in the past. This pick could work. The coaching will make or break any pick as we have seen in the past.
I agree - Keith Rivers is a solid addition and currently there are a bunch of DTs/WRs still out there (see comment above in post, “Bengals select LB Keith Rivers.”
My thoughts on the today’s picks
Keith Rivers is a solid player, and a great a addition to our defense. I think he could possibly be the “corner stone” of the D for years to come. I wish we would have traded up as the Saints did to p/u Sedrock Ellis, but I was happy to see Rivers still there after the Jaguars picked.
Jerome Simpson; I am not sure what to think here. Mel Kiper said Simpson domindated in his four years at ECU and is a great pick. From a fans perspective though, we haven’t seen much of him, and most have never heard of him. I think we should have gone after bigger or more versatile reciever such as Malcolm Kelly or Desean Jackson.
CCU not ECU
Jerome Simpson has big hands, is fast as Chris Henry and with the help of a decent receivers coach could be a great receiver. So far I’m pleased with both of the first 2 picks.
I have to agree with the WOODMAN - I like the first two picks (we have EIGHT MORE to go on Sunday). The Bengals had to pick Rivers with Ellis already gone and that fills a big need because the team is very weak at the LB spot.
Sure it might have been more comforting if the Bengals picked a big-name WR, but let’s give Simpson a chance - the more I read and watch this kid, the more I like him.
Simpson has 44 inch vertical and supposedly the biggest hands in the entire NFL Draft. He is a sure-handed receiver that has the ability to make a highlight reel catch. He might be a little raw, but could turn out to be great.
Also, both players are supposedly saints off the field, which is also a plus.
